Kristin Werner
  • Certified Dance Adjudicator A.C.E.
  • Specializing in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary Musical Theatre

Kristin Werner is a successful studio owner, dance educator, choreographer, speaker and adjudicator.  Operating her performing arts studio has been a passion for nearly 15 years.  Her school trains children and teens in all theatre dance styles, voice, acting and various music mediums.

Kristin’s classes specialize in tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, conditioning, anatomy and theatre dance.  Her students have medaled and competed for Team Canada at the IDO World Dance Championships in Tap, Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop, and have won numerous titles, sportsmanship awards and more.  She enjoys coaching competitive and recreational dancers, and developing programming for young children, through to preparing students for studies and careers in the performing arts.  Teaching her students about the power of dance is another essential part of the program, as Kristin trains students in improv and choreography in preparation for a benefit for the Dancers Kick Cancer program at her school.

After a successful competitive and performance career herself, Kristin began to focus on teaching performing arts, starting with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama, with an option in Fine and Performing Arts from the University of Waterloo.  She holds teaching certificates in Tap and Jazz from both the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and Dance Masters of America.  She continues her education with courses in current teaching methods, anatomy, and theory.

Focussing on a personal approach to teaching dance, Kristin has become an advocate for using a heart-centred approach to coaching competitive dance.  She gave a TEDx talk on the subject and was interviewed for magazines such as Just Dance! and Corporita on her unique approach to running her business and her coaching style. Aside from her career in dance, Kristin is also a mom, unofficial health enthusiast, and loves the outdoors – in the summer, of course!
